Outbound links, also called external links, direct visitors from pages on your website to other sites on the Internet. Unlike inbound links, which send visitors to other pages on your website, outbound links send visitors to entirely different sites.

If another website links to you, it is considered an outbound link. At the same time, if you link to another website, it is also an outbound link.

Typically, external links pass more value than internal links. This is because search engines believe that what other people say about you is more important than what you say about yourself. In other words, if more websites link to your site, you will appear to be a more credible source.

External links are also harder to manipulate, so they are one of the best ways for search engines to determine the popularity and relevance of a particular website or page.

There are two kinds of outbound links

  1. dofollow
  2. nofollow

Dofollow links pass on ranking power from your website to the target page, while nofollow links do not. In other words, nofollow links tell search engines not to follow links.

All links are automatically dofollow by default. To create a nofollow link, you need to add the rel=“nofollow” tag inside your code.

Internal Links are hyperlinks that point at (target) the same domain as the domain that the link exists on (source). In layman’s terms, Internal links are links that go from one page on a domain to a different page on the same domain. They are commonly used in main navigation.

  2. They help establish information hierarchy for the given website.
  3. They help spread link equity (ranking power) around websites.

Use descriptive keywords in anchor text that give a sense of the topic or keywords the source page is trying to target.

Stop words are words which are filtered out before or after processing of natural language data (text). For SEO purposes, these are extremely common words that most search engines skip over in order to save space in their databases, and to speed up the process of crawling/indexing.

These filtered words can hinder your SEO efforts, especially if used frequently in your site’s Titles. They effectively waste valuable space, which is at a premium in certain areas due to truncation in search results.

Areas to explicitly avoid the use of stops words (if you must shorten things up) include:

  1. Page title tags (as much as possible without reducing readability)
  2. Webpage URLs (slug)
  3. Meta descriptions (as much as possible without reducing readability)
  4. Image Alt text (where possible)
  5. Focus Keywords

The focus keyword is the keyword you would like to have a particular page optimised for. Yoast uses it to measure, rate and give you hints regarding your efforts to optimise for exactly that keyword on that particular page.

Now you already set your focus keyword. Now it’s time to consider some points related to Focus Keyword for Good SEO Score

  1. It is strongly recommended not to use any stop words in Focus Keywords.
  2. The Focus Keyword Should appears in the fisrt paragraph.
  3. The meta description should contains the focus keyword.
  4. Use focus keyword in any heading or sub-headings.
  5. The images on the page should contain the focus keyword.
  6. The SEO title should contain the focus keyword and try to put at the beginning of the title.
  7. The focus keyword should appear in the URL of that page/ post.

Meta descriptions are HTML attributes that provide concise summaries of webpages. They are between one sentence to a short paragraph and appear underneath the blue clickable links in a search engine results page (SERP). However, depending on a user’s query, Google might pull meta description text from other areas on your page (in an attempt to better answer the searcher’s query).

Meta descriptions can be any length, but Google generally truncates snippets ~300 characters (this limit increased in December 2017). It’s best to keep meta descriptions long enough that they’re sufficiently descriptive, so we recommend descriptions between 50–300 characters. Keep in mind that the “optimal” length will vary depending on the situation, and your primary goal should be to provide value and drive clicks.

An alt tag, also known as “alt attribute” and “alt description,” is an HTML attribute applied to image tags to provide a text alternative for search engines. Applying images to alt tags can positively impact on search engine rankings.

Search engines and other robots cannot interpret images, but images can play a crucial part in how people interpret a particular web page. Alt tags solve for this by providing text which is read by the search engines. When Googlebot or other search engine crawlers inspect a page, images with properly formatted alt text contribute to how the page is indexed and where it ranks.

SEO seems to change drastically each year, and with Google already making huge announcements for the coming year, these changes are only likely to get larger.

Blogging is a great way for small and large businesses alike to drive valuable and targeted traffic through to their landing pages. Not only does it give you content which you can use for social media marketing, but it can also rank in Google and bring in organic traffic.

Organic traffic is often some of the best traffic out there because it’s targeted and the visitors were already searching for a solution to their problems. But ranking your blog posts isn’t a walk in the park, and the length of your posts still seems to play a prominent role.

Back in the day, some SEOs recommended incredibly short posts, 300 to 500 words, but now the average blog appears to be much longer.

Blog post length matters because it seems to correlate strongly to higher rankings in search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. This correlation has existed for years, but the evidence seems to suggest that longer posts are becoming more important for ranking.

Google always tries to rank the highest quality content at the top of their rankings, after all, they want to give users the best results possible. Therefore, they made the logical conclusion that longer content is more detailed and thus more likely to answer the user’s questions.

The new title length is 70 characters before Google will truncate the title with ellipses (…). This is an increase of 10-15 characters, which is pretty significant. It can go up to at least 71 characters, depending on the letters used, since l and i are small characters.

Depending on the length of the words, that is an additional 2-4 words that can be added to the title tag. Or some sites that are happy with their title tag could add their site name to the end instead.

9. The ideal length of slug – Points to consider before publishing a blog post for Good OnPage SEO Score

According to Yoast the ideal length of the slug should be around 38 letters. But Google, as per the nature have never been 100% open about the slug length, however, it advised not to keep it very long or very short.

10. Never use same focus keyword twice – Points to consider before publishing a blog post for Good OnPage SEO Score

Your focus keyword is the keyword you want your post or page to rank for. Some people like to use the same focus keyword over and over again. But, that’s not what a focus keyword is for! You should use a focus keyword only once. But why?

The main reason why you should not use your focus keyword more than once is that you do not want to compete with your own content for a position in Google. If you optimize two different articles for the same focus keyword, you would like to have both posts to turn up in Google. You’ll be telling Google: these two are both suitable for people searching for my keyword. You would like both of them to turn up. That’s hard to do, not impossible though, but very hard.

You need to have a site with quite a bit of authority to rank with two articles in the top ten search results. If you’re already ranking with one of your articles in the search results, you’ll probably have enough authority to try and rank with a second one. If you’re not yet ranking on a focus keyword, never use it twice! Update and improve your original article and write another post surrounding a slightly different keyword.
